This Week’s Trade Exits
As soon as I exit a trade, I note that in the comments of the post where I first mentioned the trade; at the end of the week, I try to track them all in one post. Starting in July, 2024, I have also been tracking them in this spreadsheet. These are the trades I exited this week.

Despite our loss on AMSC, our core strategy of buying our top ten names, putting trailing stops of 15% to 20% on them, and replacing them with current top names when we get stopped out, continues to perform well, driven by the performance of our top names.
Three of our top ten names from last night were up double digits on Friday, including one that was up more than 24%.

RIVN: I bought Rivian calls back in April, as I mentioned in this post at the time.
I sold the first half for a 202% gain last summer, and the second half today for a 10.3% loss. Had I waited until later in the day, I could have sold for no loss or perhaps a penny gain. My bigger regret looking back at that April post on EVs was that I got stopped out of Xiaomi ($XIACY) for a modest gain in June—those shares are up 124% since.
CVNA: I was on the fence about posting this trade exit here, as it’s not a trade I shared in this Substack (for that reason, I won’t be including it on my spreadsheet). This was an opportunity picked up by our friend David Janello’s algorithm at SpreadHunter, and it was only open for 4 seconds, so we didn’t have time to share it here. Dr. Janello tells me that sometimes these opportunities are open for longer, and when they are, he’ll let me know, so I can post them for you here. But if you want a shot at these kinds of algorithmic trades that are only available for a few seconds at a time, you’ll to subscribe to SpreadHunter yourself and set up an account with their brokerage partner. You can find Dr. Janello’s contact info at the bottom of this page if you want more info about that.
